Minutes of Meeting June 14, 2007

The meeting started at 6:30 P.M. and was called to order by President Newsome.  The invocation was delivered by Darrell Commander.  President Newsome thanked the City of Nederland for hosting the meeting and for furnishing the barbeque and drinks.  All members introduced themselves.  The minutes and treasurer’s report of last month’s meeting were read and approved.

New Business

Darrell Commander announced the passing of one of our members, Wayne Laramore.  Darrell asked that we keep Wayne and his family in our thoughts.

Darrell also announced the upcoming East Texas Regional School on August 27-30, 2007.  He stated that there would be a variety of classes offered and gave a verbal list for anyone interested in attending.

Committee

· Karin Warren, Chair of the Newsletter Committee, announced the recommendation by the committee to keep the newsletter mail outs at once every other month for cost purposes.  There was discussion about going back to monthly and a suggestion to table a vote for a couple of months.  There was a suggestion to vote now and re-vote in the future if necessary.  A motion was made to accept the once every other month circulation, there was a second and motion carried with 59 for and 2 against.

Program

The program was delivered by Andy Solomon, Director of Business Development, with Bio-Aquatic Testing, Inc.  Mr. Solomon gave a presentation on the history of bio-monitoring and its principles, culturing organisms, test design, toxicity test, chronic toxicity test, tank maintenance, and test species types and behaviors.
